Fisher Photography Newsletter - Oct 2010
OCT / 2010

Wow! We´ve been busy at Fisher Photography with all sorts of exciting things happening. I´ve literally moved walls in my studio,
we´ve got our new website nearly finished, and the warm weather makes it hard to stay inside.

Perth is cooking with activity. Make sure you get all the way to the end of this newsletter to discover some terrific events "Around Town". I´ll be at the launch of the Precious Metals exhibition by Tracy Mortimer. I hope you can make it, too.

Spring is a great time to get to the parks and throw a ball. Many of our clients are happy to be on the receiving end of that game. This issue focuses on our furry and feathered friends. Don´t forget about them when you´re considering your next family photograph.

What happens when your faithful family pets die? They go to heaven, of course.
Felicity Kermode brought her two beloved pooches in with the family photo session. I got a great shot of the two "old dears" which became a favourite of the family. A couple months later, Felicity phoned and asked if we could memorialise them as angels since they had recently passed away. I was thrilled to help her out. Photographer Richard Syme helped us show these beautiful old timers as they are now, complete with angel wings.

Photographing Pets

Getting a great shot of your pet isn´t difficult if you remember a few things. (DISCLAIMER: Snakes are a different story!)

  • Be patient; don´t overwhelm the animal
  • Let them see and smell the camera before it makes any noise
  • Keep yourself small and avoid direct eye contact
  • Get down low - crawl along the floor if you have to

Precious Metals Photographic Exhibition

11th Oct – 29th Oct 2010

Tracy Moritmer uses modern technology to evoke an "old world" look and feel to her photos of France´s landscapes and landmarks. They are simply fantastic. I have one in my personal collection.
