As one of the foremost practitioners of prenatal, newborn, baby, and family photography in Perth, we keep an eye on trends, such as the question in the title. Asking what month the most babies are born, though, is sort of a trick question. The short answer is that highest number of babies, both in WA and across Australia, are born in September and October.
However, those statistics are somewhat misleading, because there really isn’t any month that is more than 11.2% higher than any other month, according to the last reliable numbers, which were for births in 2009. The numbers are amazingly close:
So, what do these numbers tell us? It tells us that Australians are always in the mood for love, and that no single month holds any sway over our hearts. It is also great for Australians in need of medical services or any of many ancillary services like photography, because there really isn’t a “busy season” as there are in so many other businesses. Women giving birth have access to the same kind of care no matter what time of year it is.
For us, the numbers are pretty much the same. We photograph newborn babies every month of the year, and no one month seems any busier than any other. We are happy that it works out that way, because it helps us give you the same, consistent, stunning professional photographs, 12 months a year.
We recommend taking pictures of your newborn if it is at all possible. There is nothing more sacred than the bond between mother and newborn baby, and pictures taken at birth fully capture the connection in a way that can’t be duplicated later. Babies grow to be toddlers, toddlers grow to be children, and children grow to be adults all too fast. Many grandparents feel like it was only yesterday that they were having their children.
